‘I’m wholeheartedly faithful to my craft, it’s the backbone of who I am, hair is my life!’

I am the third of four generations of hair stylists in my family. The business of hair has been a huge part of my life. It’s a passion, lifestyle, enthusiasm and dedication that drives me.

I surround myself with peers I aspire to and inspire me to think forward, motivating me to strive for knowledge to better my craft and artistic ability.

I’ve been a hairstylist for 33 years including 17 years working overseas in Sydney, Auckland and NYC. I have had a monumental career and a resume that spans 15 pages. Some of my most incredible moments include working in theatre, education, fashion and celebrity salons.

I was named one of the top ten hairdressers in New Zealand, won West Midlands Stylist of the Year and worked on over 100 shows at New York Fashion Week.

One of the most rewarding things I did during that time abroad was being involved in training apprentices and future hairdressing stars. It is one of those life moments that I am most proud of. I am still in contact with my little ‘hair babies’ from around the world, I am championing them on and cheering for them in all they do. Watching them create gives me so much joy. They are all super successful, award winners, salon owners, brand ambassadors, top bridal stylists, extension specialists, statewide number 1 curl specialists, educators and editorial stylists. They are family to me and I am incredibly honoured to have been part of their journey.

I returned to England from New York to spend some time with my nan who was in her 90’s and quite sick at the time. She sadly passed away 3 months later. She was a hairdresser with two salons at the height of her career and one of the reasons I chose hairdressing as my lifelong career at age 11.

She taught me many things from finger waves to marcel curls and during my apprenticeship she let me do her hair every week. I have to say she had some crazy hairstyles back then but always said she loved it no matter how wild it looked.

I am so lucky to not only have hair as my job but also as my hobby. This means when I’m not working in the studio I’m taking classes, entering awards, doing long hair mannequins for instagram, working on photoshoots and models. I surround myself with other hair professionals or people in industries connected to the creativity of hair so, even though I work alone I have people that inspire me, keep me thinking forward and help me to better myself and upskill with all the latest trends. Hairdressing is ever evolving and I never stop learning.
